Rocking it

Despite being plagued by the flu epidemic spreading across Jozi – I decided, like the trooper I am, to head out with C to the Blues Room last night to watch Wonderboom in action. What a rocking night.

The first opening band was completely kak as usual – some girly band called Scarlet Box where the lead singer thought she was Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries, except about 10 times angrier (if that’s possible). She also kept unknowingly flashing the whole of Blues Room the entire set – go girl, way to leave a lasting impression!

The second band, Blood Money were a lot better – sexy lead singer with an even sexier voice. Fatal mistake of wearing leather pants though… almost unforgivable.

Before Wonderboom started, The Ron’s happy clappy/bandwhore ex girlfriend came bounding over to say hi. This girl really just rubs me up the wrong way. She thinks that South African quasi-celebrities are just the bomb and likes to name drop as though this, by default, catapults her to the same level of quasi-celebritydom. She’s now dating a member of Rock God’s band. Almost makes me lose respect for Rock God, on the basis that he could be friends with someone who finds her attractive. But then I remembered that I’m friends with The Ron and he used to find her attractive, so it really just bonds Rock God and I even closer together.

Anyways – after that Wonderboom started – My god this band rocks. Fortunately I’ve discovered a kindred live music lover in C, so we got to jump around like mad creatures. Cito, the frontman of Wonderboom (who for the record, is not Rock God) is truly a masterpiece. This guy knows how to work it like no one else. You can tell he’s spent hours in front of the mirror perfecting his blue-eyed gaze out from under his eyebrows – and as much as every girl wants to not be turned on by it because of his complete arrogance – none of us can resist swooning away. He also knows the exact moment to take off his shirt and reveal his tattooed bod and….ermm…..um…. where was I?

P.S. Note to all male readers out there – do not try and hit on women while they are watching a live rock band – unless you are the frontman in the band, it’s not going to work out for you. It’s like a girl trying to hit on a guy in a strip club…… wait a minute… no, that would probably work.

Cuteness – he certainly is a wonder... *sigh* *swoon*

One of my friends described Wonderboom quite accurately by saying – They’re so bad… but in a good way! :)

OMG MOzi - brill post. Thank you for the tip at the end. Greatly appreciated. Any tips on how to have freaky sex on a Friday night at your friends birthday party without being caught? Maybe I should chat to Wiggly about it ;-)

Phlips – lordwiggly certainly does seem to be the expert in that department – with his heart warming Valentine’s Day post and all…

Glad my VD post touched the emotional heartstrings.

Phlippy the thrill of getting caught with your rods around your ankles in your frind's parents' kitchen cupboard is half the fun. The trick is how to get you, the girl AND her two best friends in the kitchen cupboard in the first place.

As for swooning over "celebrities" I just don't get it. I would rather focus on the cute girl in the audience than Christina Aguilera on the stage. Call me old fashioned.
